Fantastic Friday!

Today was an amazing last day of camp! The morning started out with each cabin checking out and getting one last chance to buy things from the Canteen. Then after brunch, we had a closing Devotional to help wrap up the week. Then, it was time for the Closing Ceremonies for the Olympics.

IMG_5620 IMG_5621 IMG_5625 IMG_5629 IMG_5631 IMG_5634

Since Ellen’s D’Generous Sheep won, they had the ability to vote one staff member into the lake survivor style. After all the votes were counted, there was a tie between Jesse and Madi. Despite the chanting for both to go into the lake, we followed the established rule that only one staff member is to be thrown in. Therefore, we opened up the voting to all of camp via a scream vote.

As you can clearly hear, the vote for Jesse was quite overwhelming so he was thrown into the lake. However, he got his revenge and dumped in the two Olympic staff members from the winning team, Wes and Ellen, as he flipped the canoe partway out to the raft.

IMG_5643 IMG_5647IMG_5649

After retrieving all three soaking wet staff members from the lake, it was time to start our closing worship. We had some great high energy songs, and even got a closing message from Jesse on what it means to leave a holy and perfect place and to reenter our regular lives.

After chapel finished, it was time for cabins to say goodbye and for the campers to depart.

IMG_5656 IMG_5659 IMG_5662 IMG_5665 IMG_5667 IMG_5669 IMG_5672 IMG_5673 IMG_5677 IMG_5679 IMG_5682 IMG_5683 IMG_5685

It was a great last week of campers for us here at Luther Dell, we’re going to miss them so much over the next 51 weeks!

Thunderin Thursday!

This morning was a special morning. We all got to sleep in and have breakfast in bed, and afterwards the roots led us in worship

IMG_5458 IMG_5465 IMG_5473 IMG_5475 IMG_5478

This afternoon, we were able to open the beach for one last day of swimming, and played another fun dodgeball game called Star Wars! After that, we played a large camp game called Rattatattat!

IMG_5492 IMG_5493

After that, it was time for the final Olympic Event, Noodle Hockey! Many teams scored goals, but Ellen’s D’Generous sheep were able to hold onto their lead enough to win the Olympics this week!

IMG_5599 IMG_5498 IMG_5500 IMG_5504 IMG_5514 IMG_5515 IMG_5521 IMG_5530 IMG_5535

The campers all then voted on the game we would play that evening, and by a large majority, Mighty Mighty won!

IMG_5603 IMG_5606 IMG_5608 IMG_5610 IMG_5613

A huge thank you to Ella for letting us use her GoPro footage for the following videos!

We got to end our night by sharing in the Lord’s Supper, singing Holden’s Evening Prayer, and listening to a message from Madi, one of our female counselors.

It was a great last day of camp for the summer!

Wonderful Wednesday!

Wonderful Wednesday!

Today we got to start out our morning with an early chapel since all the Roots were going into Longville for the Turtle Races.

IMG_5272 IMG_5274 IMG_5277

After chapel, the Roots packed out their lunches so they could have Bible Study in Longville before volunteering at the turtle races.

While they were in town, the rest of camp got to have picnic lunches. When we finished eating lunch, we got to have a lot of fun during freetime too.

IMG_5278 IMG_5281 IMG_5289 IMG_5292 IMG_5294 IMG_5297 IMG_5301

During support staff game, we got to play a new game called Dragon tag!

IMG_5303 IMG_5306 IMG_5308 IMG_5314 IMG_5322

After support staff game, we got to play Scrambled Eggs but since there was a large chance of bad storms, we played in upper Sunwall

IMG_5335 IMG_5336 IMG_5338 IMG_5340 IMG_5344

Miraculously, none of the storms that were supposed to hit us did, so instead of watching a movie we got to play Time traveler dodgeball

IMG_5353 IMG_5354 IMG_5355 IMG_5361 IMG_5364 IMG_5368 IMG_5375 IMG_5378 IMG_5381 IMG_5398 IMG_5405 IMG_5417

It was then time for our emotional worship, when the counselors get a chance to pray with each of their campers one on one. It is frequently one of the favorite worship services of the campers during the summer

IMG_5435 IMG_5441 IMG_5442 IMG_5443 IMG_5448 IMG_5452 IMG_5454It was another great evening!

Terrific Tuesday!!

Today was awesome! We got to start out our morning with Chapel and partway through had a chance to silently pray together

IMG_5194 IMG_5195 IMG_5196 IMG_5197 IMG_5198

Since the weather was holding out, we got to go swimming during free time and play some fun games around camp. We also got to play a new game called Zookeeper where we collect “animals” around camp by doing some goofy things. Here’s one group collecting Wes the Sloth

It was a hot day, so during support staff games we played a dodgeball game called Eliminator in the shade over by the Boys Dorm

13900353_10155080909628835_2675142772227504955_n IMG_5202 IMG_5206 IMG_5207 IMG_5209 IMG_5218

After that, we got to play a game called Zuba which is a combination of handball, basketball, and soccer

IMG_5221 IMG_5226 IMG_5229 IMG_5232 IMG_5234 IMG_5240

Tonight, we got a chance to play Hula Launchers, a game where we shoot nerf balls out of water balloon launchers into nets while a dodgeball game occurs simultaneously

IMG_5249 IMG_5252 IMG_5255 IMG_5258

After the game, we got to enjoy a great sunset during canteen!

We ended the day with our Super Happy Fun Times worship. You can check out our awesome skit below

Mighty Mighty Monday!

Mighty Mighty Monday!

Like every day, one of the first things we got to do as an entire camp is worship together for our morning chapel

IMG_4978 IMG_4982

We go to have some time doing team building activities and one on ones afterwards, which allowed some of the cabins to have some time to hang out or play games like gaga

IMG_4984 IMG_5005 IMG_5002 IMG_5000 IMG_4998 IMG_4994 IMG_4993 IMG_4985

After lunch we got to have our swim test for the week and once that was finished some free time where the campers played some volleyball in honor of the Rio Olympics.

14001728_10154440841587661_71347651_o 13939938_10154440841272661_173950737_o 13939978_10154440841167661_1669971428_o 14002409_10154440841062661_1332002357_o

It was then time for us to host our own olympics, starting by forming our nations and creating a cheer

The Ladd Terzich’s were named in honor of our Maintenance Man, Samuel Ladd Terzich

After our teams designed their nations and their cheers, it was time for Speed Pictionary!

IMG_5006 IMG_5014 IMG_5009 IMG_5007

IMG_5033 IMG_5038 IMG_5036

Partway through speed pictionary, however, the most exciting vehicle of the entire week arrived, the well drillers

You see, after the campers arrived on Sunday, we discovered that one of our wells was not pumping and we could not fix it ourselves. So Sam jerry-rigged a system to get enough water to the cabins to use the restrooms but not enough to shower. Thanks to these guys, the whole camp could shower again.

After supper, it was time for one of the all-time camp favorites, Mighty Mighty.

Sam had to paint faces to distinguish teams for his first time while on staff (6 years now!). His face just screams, “How is this supposed to work?”

IMG_5039 IMG_5128 IMG_5058 IMG_5054 IMG_5053 IMG_5047 IMG_5041IMG_5107IMG_5062IMG_5105IMG_5104

After Mighty Mighty, it was time for some canteen

IMG_5188 IMG_5186 IMG_5185 IMG_5180 IMG_5175 IMG_5168 IMG_5149

We got to finish the night with a great worship in the outdoor chapel with a beautiful sunset

Swimmingly Super Sunday!

Swimmingly Super Sunday!

Today was a great day! We have a total of 69 campers this week, that’s the second most we’ve had in one week all summer! Compared to our first week though, check-ins flew by and we finished before supper! That being said, there was still a good long while of waiting and playing games before supper too

IMG_4887 IMG_4896 IMG_4894 IMG_4893 IMG_4888

However, after supper, we got to play an awesome game of Quad-Medic. which is a game of medic but with 4 different teams.

IMG_4907 IMG_4948 IMG_4943 IMG_4941 IMG_4938 IMG_4933 IMG_4932 IMG_4927 IMG_4924 IMG_4914 IMG_4912 IMG_4911

After medic, we got to have some time to hang out and eat food from Canteen and then finished off the night with a worship around the campfire!

IMG_4955 IMG_4968 IMG_4959 IMG_4958

IMG_4969 IMG_4972 IMG_4970

Fantastic Friday!!

Fridays are usually a little crazy! After check-out, brunch, and a closing devo, it was finally time for the closing Olympic ceremonies!

IMG_4800 IMG_4797 IMG_4791 IMG_4781

As part of the closing ceremonies, the winning team got to vote in one staff member into the lake, Survivor style. This week, Evan won the honor of being canoed out to the raft to belly flop in

IMG_4813 IMG_4815

After leaving the lake, it was time for our closing chapel with one final skit about the Rehtul Family

IMG_4818 IMG_4821IMG_4828

After closing chapel, it was time for some cabin and church pictures before everyone left for the summer!

IMG_4830 IMG_4849 IMG_4846 IMG_4844 IMG_4843 IMG_4838 IMG_4837 IMG_4836 IMG_4835 IMG_4832

It was another fantastic week here at Luther Dell!

Terrific Thursday!

Terrific Thursday!

Today was another really great day! We all got to sleep in and eat breakfast in bed! Then we got to flip around the schedule a bit so that chapel was right before lunch!

This allows us to let the Roots campers run chapel for the morning! So they chose the songs, play instruments, and lead worship!IMG_4642

IMG_4645 IMG_4691 IMG_4685 IMG_4679

IMG_4651 IMG_4648

After Lunch, it was time for Free Time! Thanks to the weather finally cooperating, we were able to take the swim test and have the beach open for a couple hours!

After free time was done, it was time for the final Olympic Event: Noodle Hockey!

IMG_4694 IMG_4757 IMG_4748 IMG_4735 IMG_4729 IMG_4728 IMG_4726 IMG_4717 IMG_4711 IMG_4706 IMG_4703 IMG_4698

The campers then got to vote on whichever game they would like to play tonight. They overwhelmingly voted for Mighty Mighty, so we got to play that again!

IMG_4757 IMG_4763 IMG_4761 IMG_4760 IMG_4759

We then had some time at canteen where some staff decided to lead a couple games, Gauntlet and Neature Walk

Finally we got to end the evening with another night of worship! What a fantastic week it was!

IMG_4764 IMG_4769 IMG_4767

Wacky Wednesday!

Wacky Wednesday!

Wednesdays are great because the Roots go into Longville to help with the Turtle Races, so the younger campers are left behind to play whatever they want at camp without the older kids dominating.

This included Tie-Dye

Soccer Wars

Basketball and Fooseball

IMG_4490 IMG_4489 IMG_4487

And even Street Square and crafts in the Art Shop

After the roots returned, we got to play both Scrambled Eggs and Zuba for he Olympics!

IMG_4497 IMG_4532 IMG_4531 IMG_4530 IMG_4529 IMG_4526 IMG_4524 IMG_4520 IMG_4516 IMG_4515 IMG_4514 IMG_4511 IMG_4508 IMG_4507 IMG_4502

After dinner, the teams returned to the field for the third Olympic Event of the day: Time Traveler Dodgeball

IMG_4539 IMG_4577 IMG_4574 IMG_4570 IMG_4569 IMG_4567 IMG_4562 IMG_4557 IMG_4556 IMG_4553 IMG_4552 IMG_4546

After canteen, it was time for our Emotional Worship, where we sing a bunch of very meaningful songs, while the counselors pray individually with the campers

IMG_4580 IMG_4620 IMG_4616 IMG_4615 IMG_4611 IMG_4595 IMG_4583

It was an absolutely beautiful night!

Terrific Tuesday!

Terrific Tuesday!

Today was an interesting day, because we decided to listen to the weatherman who said there wasn’t any chance of storms for the week.

Well…about 3 minutes before free time started, it began to downpour with thunder and lightning, so we couldn’t have the swim test as planned.

Instead we got to do a lot of indoor games instead, including Mafia, 9 Square, and crafts in the Art Shop!

IMG_4298 IMG_4351 IMG_4324 IMG_4323 IMG_4320 IMG_4319 IMG_4315 IMG_4312 IMG_4309 IMG_4308 IMG_4306 IMG_4302 IMG_4301 IMG_4299

After Free time, we decided to have Minute to Win it games for Olympics (before the Opening Ceremony even began!)

IMG_4364 IMG_4358

We then had our opening Olympic Ceremony followed by creating their nation flag and speed pictionary.

IMG_4374 IMG_4416 IMG_4412 IMG_4409 IMG_4407 IMG_4402 IMG_4399 IMG_4398 IMG_4397 IMG_4392 IMG_4391 IMG_4387 IMG_4386 IMG_4380 IMG_4378 IMG_4377 IMG_4376

We capped off the night by playing Hula Launchers (and even got in a game of staff vs. campers!)

IMG_4420 IMG_4456 IMG_4447 IMG_4439 IMG_4434 IMG_4432 IMG_4429

Finally, we closed the evening with Super Happy Fun Times Worship and Guys and Girls Devo!

IMG_4469 IMG_4472

It was another awesome day!

Magnificent Monday!

Due to our 82 hour power outage, we were not able to have camp start on Sunday like normal. However, that made Monday even more special, because we got to start camp on Monday afternoon with the awesomeness that is Mighty Mighty on Monday night!

IMG_4244 IMG_4264 IMG_4263 IMG_4262 IMG_4259 IMG_4257 IMG_4255 IMG_4252 IMG_4251 IMG_4247IMG_4272

After finishing our awesome game of Mighty Mighty, we were able to have some time at Canteen eating snacks, playing games, and enjoying the beautiful sunset!

IMG_4276 IMG_4296 IMG_4295 IMG_4281IMG_4289IMG_4288IMG_4282

We finished off the night with a worship around the campfire and devotionals before bed. All in all, it was a pretty great day!

Fantastic Friday!

Due to the lack of fresh, clean, water, for health concerns, St. Michael’s decided to cancel their weekend family camp.¬†Even though we still didn’t have power or water, we were still able to have a normal Friday morning.

After breakfast and check outs, it was time to have our Closing Olympic Ceremonies.

In second place, we had the Bacon Bolts with a total of 175.3 points

And in 1st place, we had the Stairs with a record setting 200.1 points!

As per tradition, the Stairs go to vote one Luther Dell staff member into the lake, Survivor style

In a surprising twist of events, the Stairs decided to vote one of their teammates, Wes, into the lake

We then got to close with our final chapel

After chapel ended, we got to say a few last goodbyes before our campers left

IMG_4243 IMG_4242

Thank’s for such a great week St. Michael’s
